Today’s trip was to the Shetland islands, an archipelago to the north of the Scottish mainland. It was initially settled by Viking raiders in the 12th century. The island is famous for its Shetland ponies.

We visited a farm whereShetland ponies have been raised for about 45 years. The ponies have lived on the Shetland islands since the early Bronze Age, and have been used for hauling materials. Their strength and low center of gravity make them ideal for pulling heavy loads.
