Today’s assignment was to capture architecture, and experiment with a more monochromatic approach to lighting.
Thanks to Photoshop’s capabilities, it is not too difficult to render an image in black and white, and compare it to the original color image. I didn’t quite do that here, but I took two very similar shots, and converted one of the two to black and white to see what effect the monochromatic image has on the overall “mood” of the image.
I am interested in getting reactions to the two image pairs. Is the black and white image more or less powerful, evocative, etc.? Does the same building create a very different “feel” when rendered in color vs. black and white?
